2020/02/06 9:00

Dear teachers and students,

Amid the coronavirus panic and to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV), The Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced that schools across the country from the elementary to university would begin the new semester on Feb. 25th or after.

Following the announcement of Tunghai University, THU Chinese language center has postponed the registration date of the upcoming spring semester to 2020/02/27(Thursday). The official starting date of the course will be delayed until 2020/03/02(Monday).

On February 5th , the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that starting from February 7th , the entry of travelers with a history of travel to China, Hong Kong and Macau will be suspended. As CECC will closely monitor the development of disease outbreak and adjust endemic area and the level of travel notices accordingly, we strongly suggest that students should avoid taking any transit flights that will travel from China, Hong Kong and Macau to Taiwan.

According to the CECC, starting from 2020/02/06, people in Taiwan will only be allowed to buy two face masks per week at NHI contracted pharmacies. Foreigners who don’t have a NHI card can purchase masks at designated pharmacies with their passports, those who have NHI card should still use it to purchase masks. In order to avoid long queues, residents should go to pharmacies according to the last digit of their ID number, residency number, or passport number. If the latter ends in an odd number, you are eligible to buy masks on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; even numbers should go on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Sundays are open to all.
